Fresh Start is a problem solving/communication/team building workshop. It began as the Ashland high School transition program for all 9th grader students entering high school. It is basically a low elements 'Ropes' type course, which consists of a two-day overnight retreat. During the retreat, trained upper grade counselors lead the new high school students through a series of activities carefully structured to build connections among the students and to foster open communication and dialogue. First developed by AHS art teacher, Mark Schoenleber, Fresh Start has been in place since 1995 and has helped over thousands of incoming freshman make the transition into high school.
